MOSCOW, March 9. /TASS/. The construction of a Polish military training center in western Ukraine will draw Warsaw into the conflict, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Thursday.
The diplomat drew attention to media reports about the construction by Polish company Lubawa S.A. of a combat training center for 600 Ukrainian servicemen in Ukraine's Volyn Region. "The fact that this is fraught with Poland’s direct involvement in the Ukrainian conflict does not seem to bother anyone whatsoever in Warsaw, never mind in Kiev," the diplomat said, pointing out that military facilities in Ukraine are a legitimate target for the Russian Armed Forces.
In this way, Poland is continuing its "creeping expansion" into Ukrainian territory, Zakharova elaborated. "In reality, what we are talking about here is Warsaw's intention to deploy its infrastructure to augment the head count of the Polish grouping, previously announced as the Polish Volunteer Legion, which will be deployed on the basis of the aforementioned center," she noted. "In fact, this legion is being created to form supervisory units to monitor the activities of government authorities and law enforcement in the territories of Western Ukraine," she added.
