MOSCOW, October 27. /TASS/. The steps that Russia is taking to protect its sovereignty are appealing to many other countries despite the West’s attempts to slander Russia, President Vladimir Putin said at a plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club on Thursday.

"What we are doing (to protect sovereignty - TASS) is attractive to a lot of other countries and nations. However, our so-called Western partners are doing their best to slander Russia, humiliate it in some way and ignore its interests," he noted.

Putin pointed out that the example that Russia was showing by openly, honestly and convincingly defending its interests, is "attractive to billions of people around the world."
