US demonstrates it is unready for equitable dialogue, says Russian top brass

The US doctrinal documents, such as the Conceptual Approaches to Implementing the National Security Strategy, define Russia as the US’ main geopolitical opponent and eventually this status will be assigned to China

MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/. The United States demonstrates it is unready for an equitable dialogue and continues building relations from the position of force, Chief of the Russian General Staff’s Main Department Admiral Igor Kostyukov said at the Moscow conference on international security on Wednesday.

"The United States, obsessed with the goal of global dominance, demonstrates that it is not ready for an equitable dialogue. In its doctrinal documents, the United States seals the methods of building relations with foreign countries from the position of force," the admiral said.

The US doctrinal documents, such as the Conceptual Approaches to Implementing the National Security Strategy, define Russia as the US’ main geopolitical opponent and eventually this status will be assigned to China, he said.

It does not suit Washington to see a "dynamically developing Russia" that is playing an increasingly important role in international affairs, the admiral said.

The US leadership also fears that an increasingly powerful China can outstrip the United States in terms of its economic performance by 2030 and considerably build up its scientific-technical and military potential, the Russian defense official said.
