Duty-free quota on import of up to 160,000 tons of chicken meat to Russia approved

Russia’s Agriculture Ministry suggested that shipments of certain types of chicken meat be temporarily banned from December 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024

MOSCOW, November 23. /TASS/. Russia’s subcommittee has greenlighted exempting supplies of chicken meat to the country in the volume of 160,000 tons from the import customs duty, the cabinet’s press service reported.

"The subcommittee has approved the introduction of tariff preference on certain types of chicken meat. In particular, it is planned to exempt supplies of chicken meat in the volume of up to 160,000 tons from payment of the import customs duty in 2024. The decision is aimed at stabilizing prices on the market of poultry products due to boosting supply on the domestic market," the report said.

Russia’s Agriculture Ministry suggested introducing a duty-free quota on import of certain types of chicken meat to the country in the volume of up to 160,000 tons on November 1, 2023. The ministry also suggested that shipments of certain types of chicken meat be temporarily banned from December 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024. The restrictions do not cover products delivered to EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) countries.

Moreover, exports of eggs, including to the EAEU territory, is suggested to be banned for the same period.
