HAIKOU /China/, August 9. /TASS/. About 100 people attended a presentation on the cultural and economic potential of the southernmost Chinese province of Hainan, which was held in the US island state of Hawaii, the Hainan Daily newspaper reported.
According to the newspaper, representatives of various Hawaii departments supervising the issues of economy, trade and tourism, as well as the General Chamber of Commerce of China - USA were among the visitors, who were present during the Night of Chinese Hainan event. The presentation attracted the attention of the hotel industry, tourism companies and media.
The Hainan delegation introduced the specific features of the free trade port to the local community, including the preferential policies available to foreign investors. The presentation also highlighted the visa-free policy, which applies to 59 countries, including Russia. The organizers of the event did not limit themselves to the trade and economic agenda and showed the audience the culture and traditions of the island's Li and Miao minority groups.
The Hainan delegation noted that the presentation allowed to clearly demonstrate the potential of the Chinese market and favorable opportunities for business development in the PRC. Representatives of Hawaii's business circles expressed interest in joint tourism projects, noting that they would "strengthen the bridge of friendship" with Hainan. They also suggested boosting bilateral contacts by optimizing international transport communications.
Hainan and Hawaii established sisterly relations in 1992. The two sides have successfully promoted cooperation in the agricultural and trade fields, culture and tourism. Inter-regional cooperation in these areas is expected to be one of the stimuli for the development of Hainan Free Trade Port.
