Former Commander of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army of Russia’s Southern Military District Lieutenant General Andrey Mordvichev has been appointed to command the Central Military District troops, according to data from the Unified Public Register of Legal Entities.

Colonel General Alexander Lapin, who took part in the special military operation in Ukraine and was awarded the Hero of Russia title, served as commander of the Central Military District troops in 2017-2022.
