Thailand records over 50 aftershocks following Myanmar earthquake

BANGKOK, March 28. /TASS/. Over 50 aftershocks were recorded in Thailand following a powerful earthquake in Myanmar, according to data from the Thai earthquake monitoring service.

The latest aftershock with a magnitude of 4.9 was recorded at 11:46 p.m. local time (4:46 p.m. GMT).

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake was felt in the Thai capital of Bangkok and its surrounding area earlier on Friday. The Thai Meteorological Department recorded magnitude 8.2 tremors, with the epicenter at a depth of ten kilometers near the city of Mandalay in Myanmar, at 1:20 p.m. local time. According to the latest reports, the quake death toll in Bangkok has risen to ten, and over 100 people remain missing.
