BALI, November 16. /TASS/. The countries of the Group of Twenty (G20) emphasize the importance of the grain deal and support its extension, according to a joint statement adopted on Wednesday at the end of the summit.
"We welcome the Turkiye and UN-brokered two Istanbul Agreements signed on 22 July 2022 and consisting of the Initiative on the Safe Transportation of Grain and Foodstuffs from Ukrainian Ports (Black Sea Grain Initiative) and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Russian Federation and the Secretariat of the United Nations on Promoting Russian Food Products and Fertilizers to the World Markets, on the unimpeded deliveries of grain, foodstuffs, and fertilizers/inputs from Ukraine and the Russian Federation, to ease tension and prevent global food insecurity and hunger in developing countries. We emphasize the importance of their full, timely and continued implementation by all relevant stakeholders, as well as the UN Secretary-General’s calls for continuation of these efforts by the Parties," the statement said.
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said earlier that Russia spoke in favor of the Black Sea grain deal extension at the G20 summit, on condition that supplies to countries in need are controlled.
