EU eyes Russian gold as new sanction target — Reuters

However, it is yet unclear whether measures will apply against Russian gold import by the EU or metal deliveries to Russia

MOSCOW, June 21. /TASS/. The European Union is considering the opportunity of introducing sanctions related to Russian gold, Reuters said on Tuesday, citing a source.

The European Commission is working on inclusion of Russian gold into the possible new package of sanctions, according to the source. It is unclear so far whether measures will apply against Russian gold import by the EU or metal deliveries to Russia.

Sanction efforts are expected to continue as early as this week during the summit of EU heads of states to be held in Madrid on June 23-24, Reuters said.
