Hainan’s Sanya becomes popular family vacation destination on Children's Day

According to Ctrip Travel Agency, this spring, Hainan attracted a large number of tourists from Shanghai, Beijing and Nanjing

HAIKOU /China/, June 1. /TASS/. The resort city of Sanya on the southern coast of Hainan Island became a popular destination for family tourism in China on International Children's Day this Thursday. This was reported by the SanyaDaily newspaper.

The newspaper cited China's leading online travel agency Ctrip as saying that Sanya tops the list of the country's busiest air routes for small tourist groups of parents and their children. Overall, it is noted that in January and May, this city has consistently appeared as one of the "hottest" holiday destinations.

According to Ctrip, the second most popular destination for family travelers in China after Sanya is Shanghai, followed by Beijing, the southern metropolis of Guangzhou and Lijiang City (southwestern Yunnan Province). As for outbound destinations, this season, representatives of this category of tourists from China tend to go to Thailand, Singapore or the Maldives.

According to the travel agency, this spring Hainan attracted a large number of tourists from Shanghai and Beijing, major cities such as Nanjing (east of the countries), Xi'an (northwest), Shenyang (northeast) and Chongqing (southwest).

Sanya is China's leading resort, home to more than 1 million people. In 2022, its gross product was 84.71 billion yuan (approximately $12.2 billion). The city reaches an average annual temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius and has a coastline of more than 200 kilometers. There are 19 bays and about 40 islands suitable for tourism in the surrounding waters, all of which enable the local government to successfully develop yacht and beach tourism.
