US iconic journalist Barbara Walters dies at 93

MOSCOW, December 31. /TASS/. US TV anchor Barbara Walters has died at 93, according to ABC.

The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

The journalist came to ABC in 1976 after 15 years with NBC where she co-anchored the Today show. During her career, she interviewed every American president since Richard Nixon, as well as many Hollywood stars and other celebrities.

In 1991, Walters interviewed Russia’s first president Boris Yeltsin and in 2001, she became the first American journalist to interview Vladimir Putin.

Barbara Walters won the Emmy award 12 times. She announced her retirement in 2014.
