Russia, China in constant discussions on schedule of presidents’ bilateral contacts

According to Maria Zakharova, this year Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping "will have opportunities of maintaining regular political dialogue both in the bilateral format as well as on the platforms of global forums"

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. Russia and China maintain constant discussions regarding the schedule of upcoming contacts between the leaders of both countries, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.

"The schedule of contacts between the leaders is discussed with the Chinese side on a regular basis, including after the recent visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to China," Zakharova told a news briefing commenting on the results of Minister Lavrov’s visit to China.

According to Zakharova, this year Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping "will have opportunities of maintaining regular political dialogue both in the bilateral format as well as on the platforms of global forums."

Foreign Minister Lavrov announced earlier that the leaders of Russia and China planned to hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Astana in June and during the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) format summit in Kazan in October.

Following talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing earlier this week Lavrov described at a news conference the leaders’ diplomacy as "a central element of Russia-China comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction."
