MOSCOW, March 21. /TASS/. Russia and Venezuela discussed the United States’ military-biological activities during interagency consultations on biological security in Caracas, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
"An exchange of assessments of biological security threats in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as globally, took place. Special attention was paid to US military-biological activities conducted outside [the United States’] national territory in violation of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxic Weapons (BWC)," the ministry said in a statement.
The statement also noted that the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of biological security and strengthening the BWC regime.
"The meeting confirmed the unity of approaches of Russia and Venezuela toward biological security issues. The need for further close coordination and constructive interaction in both bilateral and multilateral formats, primarily within the UN and under the BWC, was emphasized," the diplomatic service added.
