Donbass residents view Putin as true defender of fatherland — DPR head

The high turnout in the region demonstrated its allegiance to Russia, and that its residents are completely behind the incumbent leader, Denis Pushilin said

DONETSK, March 17. /TASS/. Residents of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) view President Vladimir Putin, who is running away with the 2024 presidential election, as a true defender of the fatherland, DPR head Denis Pushilin said.

"For residents of the DPR, Vladimir Putin remains a true, genuine defender of the fatherland," he said.

Pushilin went on to say that the high turnout in the region demonstrated its allegiance to Russia, and that its residents are completely behind the incumbent leader.

"Vladimir Vladimirovich was the one whose decisions saved Donbass and allowed us to stay who we are, to preserve our language, our culture, our traditional values," the DPR leader added.

With 100% of the ballots counted in DPR, Vladimir Putin received 95.23% of the vote in the region, followed by Nikolay Kharitonov (1.62%), Leonid Slutsky (1.53%), and Vladislav Davankov (1.35%).
