New People party’s candidate says Putin has election in the bag

"Undoubtedly, Vladimir Putin is the winner," Vladislav Davankov said

MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. Incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin’s victory in the country’s presidential election is a foregone conclusion, the New People party’s candidate Vladislav Davankov told reporters.

"Undoubtedly, Vladimir Putin is the winner. However, it’s crucial for us that we were able to present our platform [to the people]," he said.

Davankov also thanked everyone who voted for him. "I have certainly never before received this many messages on social media and Telegram," he added.

Russia held its presidential election on March 15-17. Voting took place over three days for the first time ever.
