Polling stations in Russian presidential election close in Moscow

MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. Polling stations in Russia’s presidential election have closed in Moscow and the nearby region; online voting is also over.

The Russian presidential election is taking place over three days on March 15, 16 and 17, with online voting available in about one-third of the country’s regions. Four candidates are vying for the top office, namely Vladislav Davankov (nominated by the New People party), Nikolay Kharitonov (nominated by the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, or CPRF), Vladimir Putin (self-nominee), and Leonid Slutsky (nominated by the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, or LDPR).

More than 2,200 polling stations were set up in Moscow and online voting was available around the clock. Apart from Moscow residents, Russian citizens coming from other regions of the country could also cast their ballots in the capital after filing the relevant application. More than 3,900 polling stations were established in the Moscow Region.
