Last two presidential hopefuls cast ballots in Russian election on Sunday

These were Communist Party of the Russian Federation nominee Nikolay Kharitonov and New People party nominee Vladislav Davankov

MOSCOW, March 17. /TASS/. Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) nominee Nikolay Kharitonov and another presidential hopeful, New People party nominee Vladislav Davankov, cast their ballots on the final day of Russia’s first three-day presidential election on Sunday.

Kharitonov attended a polling station in Moscow’s Western administrative district, a TASS reporter said. According to Kharitonov, he expects to score "a decent result" in the vote. CPRF leader Gennady Zyuganov is also expected to cast his vote in Moscow later on Sunday.

New People’s Davankov cast his ballot at a polling station in his native city of Smolensk in western Russia as he called on the electorate "to come and vote for Russia’s future."

Apart from Kharitonov and Davankov, two more candidates are running in the Russian presidential election on March 15-17, 2024, namely self-nominated candidate and incumbent President Vladimir Putin and Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) nominee Leonid Slutsky.

While Putin cast his electronic vote on the first day of the election, on Friday, Slutsky voted at a polling station on Saturday.
