Russia’s diplomats obtain information about death of Russian national in Gaza

This fact is being verified

MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Russian diplomats in Ramallah have received information about the death of a Russian citizen in the Gaza Strip, and this fact is being verified, Spokeswoman for the Russian mission to the Palestinian National Authority Aliya Zaripova told TASS.

"We have obtained information from compatriots in the Gaza Strip about the death of Russian citizen Majed Hassoun there on Friday as a result of an Israeli strike on the house where his father and other relatives lived. However, we cannot yet unequivocally verify this fact due to the renewed intense fighting in the Strip," she said.

Zaripova added that the Russian mission had no other information on this issue.

If confirmed, Hassoun’s death will be the first recorded death of a Russian citizen in the Gaza Strip since the Israel-Hamas conflict escalated.

Early on December 1, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) blamed Hamas for violating the truce and said that it was resuming combat in the Gaza Strip.
