MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will visit Kazakhstan’s capital Astana on September 24-25 to participate in the Innoprom Kazakhstan international industrial fair.
According to the Russian government’s press service, the minister will address the event’s plenary session, titled Industrial Strategies of the Modern Time.
Jointly with the heads of governments of Kazakhstan, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan, Mishustim will visit the fair’s thematic sections, devoted to machine tool engineering, shipbuilding, transport engineering, chemical industry, metallurgy, textile industry and aviation engineering.
Innoprom is a leading Eurasian exhibition platform, organized in Kazakhstan for the first time. The event will bring together over 10,000 participants from various countries. Its exhibition area will exceed 12,000 square meters. Companies from countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia will showcase their products and services.
Russia’s Urals city of Yekaterinburg hosts annual Innoprom fairs, and the Russian premier traditionally takes part in them. He addresses the event’s plenary session, visits the exhibition area and sometimes holds working meetings on the sidelines of the event. However, it is the Russian prime minister’s first-ever visit to a foreign Innoprom fair.
Bilateral relations
According to the Russian government, relations between Russia and Kazakhstan are currently at the level of strategic partnership. The sides are actively developing their cooperation in trade and economy, science and technology and humanitarian affairs. Besides, Moscow and Astana are running joint projects in industry, energy, transport, agriculture and digital technologies.
Russia is among Kazakhstan’s key trading partners with bilateral trade reaching the record-high figure of over $28 billion in 2022.
A bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation is preparing to hold a regular meeting soon. In the Russian government’s estimates, Moscow and Kazakhstan also assign a priority status to inter-regional ties as 76 constituent entities of Russia are engaged in successful contacts with various regions of Kazakhstan.
Cooperation in culture and humanitarian affairs is being actively promoted as well.
"Bilateral ties in the sphere of education are also being strengthened. At present, over 60,000 Kazakh students are studying in Russia," the Russian government said. "Russia’s leading universities are expanding the network of their branches in the republic."
Besides, Russia and Kazakhstan actively interact with each other on a wide range of regional and international matters. Special attention is paid to coordinating the two states’ efforts within the framework of major regional groups and international organizations, such as the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the United Nations and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
