Member of Russia’s National Guard killed, two injured in Ryazan training range incident

Investigators and forensic experts from the investigations department have been dispatched to the scene

MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. A member of the Russian National Guard was killed and two other guardsmen suffered injuries in an incident at a training range in the Ryazan Region, the regional branch of the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

"The investigations department of the Russian Investigative Committee in the Ryazan Region received a report of an incident that occurred during firing exercises at a training range in the village of Dubrovichi, Ryazansky District, which killed a member of the National Guard’s regional office and left two more injured," the statement reads.

Investigators and forensic experts from the investigations department have been dispatched to the scene. Officials are considering the possibility of launching a criminal investigation.

According to the Ryazan Region prosecutor’s office, an explosive device spontaneously detonated during routine firing training.
