Russia’s electricity consumption to rise by 3% in 2024 — deputy PM

Growth of electricity consumption in Russia amounted to 3.3% as of December 17, head of System Operator of the Unified Energy System (UES) Fyodor Opadchy said earlier

MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Electricity consumption in Russia will rise by 3% in 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel, adding that 1.8 GW of new generating capacities will be commissioned this year.

"This year 1.8 GW of generating capacities will be commissioned, which is higher than last year. Consumption in our country grows with record rates as we expect growth of electricity consumption in the country by 3% compared with last year," he said, adding that previously "growth roughly equaled 1-1.5%."

Growth of electricity consumption in Russia amounted to 3.3% as of December 17, head of System Operator of the Unified Energy System (UES) Fyodor Opadchy said earlier.

In 2023, electricity generation in Russia amounted to 1,151.6 bln kWh, while electricity consumption reached 1,139.2 bln kWh.
