Russian regulator removes Qiwi Bank's payment system from register

The Central Bank said the day before that the Contact payment system would not be functional due to Qiwi Bank losing its license on February 21

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. The Bank of Russia has removed Qiwi Bank's Contact system from the register of payment systems following the recent revocation of the bank's license, according to the regulator's documents.

Contact has been listed in the register of payment systems in the section titled "excluded payment systems" since March 22, 2023 together with Qiwi Bank, which was its operator.

The Central Bank said the day before that the Contact payment system would not be functional due to Qiwi Bank losing its license on February 21. TASS reporters ascertained that Qiwi Wallet and the Contact system, both payment services of the Qiwi Group, halted operations shortly after the license revocation.
