Baikal airplane will be fully made of Russian components — Deputy Minister

The Baikal is expected to become an alternative to the Soviet multirole airplane An-2

MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. The Baikal light aircraft will be completely made of Russian components, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov said on Thursday.

"No imported components are provided in the Baikal single-engine airplane. The last thing we had to change is the anti-icing system. We already understand now from what materials we will make it," Bocharov said.

The Baikal nine-seat aircraft made its maiden flight in Yekaterinburg in January 2022. The cruising speed of the airplane is up to 300 km per hour and the maximal flight range is 3,000 km (1,500 km with the payload of two tons). The Baikal is expected to become an alternative to the Soviet multirole airplane An-2.
