ST. PETERSBURG, October 6. /TASS/. The United Engine Corporation (UEC), a member of the state corporation Rostec, is going to start manufacturing of commercial gas-turbine modifications of the PD-14 aircraft engines intended for the MC-21 passenger jet after 2025, a spokesperson of Rostec told TASS.
UEC is widely using its solutions in the aviation engines sphere for development of prototype models, including engines for oil and gas transfer, the spokesperson said. "The promising aircraft engine PD-14, intended for the civil aviation, will also find its niche in the industry. Manufacturing of ground-based engines on its base will start after 2025," he added.
Two commercial modifications of the engine with the capacity of 12 MW and 16 MW were developed on the PD-14 base, press service of UEC told TASS. "Both versions will be fitted with a unified gas generator and a low-emission combustion chamber," the press service added.
The PD-14 is the first turbofan engine with the thrust of 14 tonnes, developed for MC-21 type civilian passenger jets.
