BEIJING, February 24. /TASS/. The Chinese authorities back Russia's efforts to reduce tensions in the Ukrainian conflict, Xinhua news agency reported on Monday.
"China is happy to see Russia and other interested parties involved making efforts toward the de-escalation of the Ukrainian conflict," the Chinese news agency stated following a telephone conversation earlier in the day between Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
The Chinese agency added that "Xi stressed that at the beginning of the overall escalation of the Ukraine crisis, he put forward his four-pronged approach to resolving the crisis in Ukraine.
"In September last year, China and Brazil, together with some countries of the Global South, set up the Group of Friends for Peace on the Ukraine crisis to lay down a foundation for promoting the political settlement of the crisis," the agency added referring to China’s leader Xi.
