Biden to discuss support to Kiev with EU colleagues before Trump’s inauguration

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that European support to Ukraine should continue and that should intensify

WASHINGTON, November 15. /TASS/. During the upcoming G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, outgoing US President Joe Biden plans to discuss ways of strengthening Kiev’s positions before his tenure ends, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said.

"On Ukraine, he [Biden] will have the chance to see his European colleagues, will be talking about next steps on Ukraine, including what we're trying to do to surge military equipment, to allocate all of the resources that Congress has given us, and also to find other ways to strengthen Ukraine so that we hand that account off in the best possible shape to the next administration," Sullivan said.

"We're going to argue that [European support to Ukraine] should continue and that should intensify, because the goal should be to put Ukraine in the strongest possible position on the battlefield, so that they have the most possible leverage going into negotiations," the White House advisor added.

The Russian side has consistently emphasized that the West’s arms shipments to Kiev and the training of Ukrainian troops merely prolong the conflict without altering the situation on the battlefield.
