Germany made just two inspections last year to control weapons exports, report says

There were no inspections in Ukraine

BERLIN, January 12. /TASS/. Germany made just two inspections last year to verify the actual whereabouts of the weapons it had exported, the Der Spiegel magazine reported.

The report cited the response that the country’s cabinet provided to an inquiry from the party called the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance.

The inspections were conducted in Taiwan and Cape Verde and no violations were found, according to Der Spiegel. Over the past six years, "about a dozen" inspections were carried out. There were no inspections in Ukraine.

Germany authorized arms exports worth about 12.2 billion euros in 2023.

The total value of assistance that Germany has provided to Ukraine since February 2022 - humanitarian, financial and military aid - has exceeded 25 billion euros. Last November, it was reported that the German government planned to double aid in 2024 from 4 billion to 8 billion euros.
