Exit to sea from Kherson port closed due to Ukrainian shelling — authorities

Kherson authorities are not obstructing navigation in any way, a deputy head of the Kherson Region’s civil-military administration Kirill Stremousov said

SIMFEROPOL, May 27. /TASS/. Vessels have been unable to leave the port of Kherson, because the only exit to the sea near the city of Ochakov is under control of Ukrainian forces and the risk of shelling remains high, a deputy head of the Kherson Region’s civil-military administration Kirill Stremousov has told TASS.

"The port cannot operate at the moment, because its exit to the Black Sea lies through the nationalist-held territory. I’m referring to Ochakov," he said, adding that "missile strikes targeting Kherson come from that area" and "there are mines everywhere."

In his words, Kherson authorities are not obstructing navigation in any way.

"But as soon as you enter the estuary, you are under fire of Ukrainian nationalists. And you won’t be able to sail past Ochakov, a bottleneck where you can exit to the Black Sea," he said.
