Lower house speaker blasts ‘decaying’ US legal system, political statements worth nothing

MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. In addition to US officials making contradictory statements, America’s authorities violate their own laws, which points to the decay of the US political system, Russian State Duma (the lower house of parliament) Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on Telegram on Wednesday.

"The US legal system continues to decay. Washington officials have recently made two contradictory statements," he pointed out, commenting on remarks by White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki that there had been no pressure on companies to leave Russia and the US Congress’ initiative to prohibit the United States from conducting business with companies currently operating in Russia.

Volodin also pointed out that although the US Congress had earlier banned any kind of assistance to Ukraine’s Azov Battalion (designated as an extremist organization and outlawed in Russia), US President Joe Biden continued to fund those neo-Nazis and send them weapons.

"Think about what can be expected from the United States - who owns nuclear weapons and determines many things in the world - if its leadership respects no laws and its political statements are worth nothing," the Russian parliament speaker emphasized. "Some will laugh but talk about ‘the West’s decay’ has been going on in our country for quite a while. Meanwhile, chaos has definitely come to the US," Volodin noted.
