FSB detains Russian man plotting terrorist attacks in Bryansk

On orders from an organization curator, the recruited Russian took explosive devices from a secret place in the Kaluga Region and put them near entrances to the city's administrative facilities

MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) detained a member of the Ukrainian terrorist organization Freedom of Russia Legion who was planning to commit terrorist attacks in Bryansk amid the Russian presidential election, the FSB Public Relations Center told TASS.

"The FSB in coordination with the Russian Interior Ministry detained a Krasnodar Region resident, a Russian citizen born in 2002. Working for the Ukrainian terrorist organization Freedom of Russia Legion, he was planning terrorist attacks in Bryansk in order to destabilize the socio-political situation amid the upcoming Russian presidential election," the FSB told TASS. On orders from an organization curator, the recruited Russian took explosive devices from a secret place in the Kaluga Region and put them near entrances to the city's administrative facilities.

Criminal charges were filed under Russian Criminal Code Article 30, part 1, Article 205, Part 1 (Preparation for Terrorist Activity), and Article 222, Part 1 (Illegal Acquisition, Transfer, Sale, Storage, Transportation, or Bearing of Firearms, Its Basic Parts, Ammunition, Explosives, and Explosive Devices), which stipulates up to 20 years in prison. The FSB's investigative departments in the Bryansk and Kaluga regions are probing into the matter.

The FSB earlier reported the detention of a Russian citizen, who built and launched drones on Ukraine’s instructions to disrupt Russia’s air defense systems. The man revealed that he was affiliated with the Freedom of Russia Legion.
