Russian Interior Ministry issues arrest warrant for Ukrainian SS veteran Hunka

Previously, the Investigative Committee of Russia charged Hunka, who currently lives in Canada, with genocide of Ukrainian civilian population during World War II

MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. The Russian Ministry of the Interior issued an arrest warrant against Yaroslav Hunka, a 98-year-old Nazi war veteran, who previously drew applause during Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's visit to the Canadian Parliament, according to the ministry’s database.

Previously, the Investigative Committee of Russia charged Hunka, who currently lives in Canada, with genocide of Ukrainian civilian population during World War II.

The investigators obtained documented confirmation about deployment locations and operations of the SS Division "Galicia," where Hunka served, from the Russian Defense Ministry’s Central Archive and the National Archive of the Russian Federation. According to the ministry, in April of 1943, Hitler established the 14th SS Volunteer Infantry Division "Galicia," which recruited Ukrainian volunteers, and Hunka was among them.
