MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a message of greetings to the guests and participants of the Moscow International Film Festival, the Kremlin’s Telegram channel reported on Friday.
"The opening of the Moscow International Film Festival is always a significant and much-anticipated event in the cultural life of Russia and other countries. Thanks to the colourful premieres and retrospective screenings of world masterpieces, and the participation of famous cinema stars and talented debutants, the festival invariably attracts broad attention among specialists, experts, and connoisseurs of cinematography. And, of course, new artistic ideas are born, business and personal contacts are strengthened, and trends in the development of modern cinema are determined on the sidelines of the festival, in the course of roundtable discussions, and professional and friendly communication," the Russian leader’s message reads.
The Moscow International Film Festival will take place in Moscow from August 26 through September 2. The main competition includes 13 motion pictures, three of them from Russia. The festival has been held annually since 1999 with film director Nikita Mikhalkov presiding.
