Nonsense: Education Minister slams excluding Russian authors from Ukraine's school program

The cultural heritage cannot be erased from history, Sergey Kravtsov underscored

ST. PETERSBURG, June 17. /TASS/. Excluding the works of Russian and Soviet authors from Ukraine's school program is yet another stupidity of the Kiev regime, Russian Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov told TASS on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"This is yet another confirmation of the stupidity of the Kiev regime, the cultural heritage cannot be erased from history," the minister said.

Works by Russian and Soviet authors will be removed from the Ukrainian school program, the country’s news outlet Strana reported on Thursday, citing the available documents of the Ukrainian Education Ministry’s working group, which seeks to update the content of the school curriculum on foreign literature.

It is reported that, in particular, all works by Pushkin, Lermontov, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Turgenev, Nekrasov and Bulgakov will be excluded form the program.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum organized by the Roscongress Foundation is running from June 15 to 18. This year’s forum is dubbed: ‘New Opportunities in a New World’. The SME Forum, the Creative Business Forum, the Drug Security Forum, the SPIEF Junior Dialogue and SPIEF Sport Week are also going to be part of the SPIEF event.
