Over 100 mln doses of coronavirus vaccine used in Brazil — Health Ministry

At the moment, more than 135 mln doses of drugs have been distributed, more than 128 mln have been transferred to local authorities for vaccination

RIO DE JANEIRO, July 2. /TASS/. The number of vaccine doses against coronavirus used as part of the vaccination campaign in Brazil has exceeded 100 mln, according to the official data of the Ministry of Health.

Over the past day, 2,236,284 injections were done, their total number increased to 102,230,146. Almost 27.3 mln people have already been vaccinated with both doses of the vaccine, and about 75 mln have received one vaccine.

Coronavirus vaccination began in Brazil on January 18. Currently, drugs from AstraZeneca, Sinovac Biotech, Pfizer, and Janssen are used in the country. It is planned to complete the first stage of the vaccination campaign and vaccinate priority groups of the population (about 80.5 mln people), which include doctors, the elderly, and those suffering from chronic diseases, in September.

The first coronavirus case in Brazil was confirmed on February 26, 2020. The country ranks third in the world after the United States and India in terms of the number of cases (over 18.6 mln people). In terms of the number of deaths (more than 520,000), it is second only to the United States.
