Russia’s Interior Ministry compiles list of potentially dangerous dog breeds

The list includes such breeds as the Caucasian Shepherd, the German Shepherd, the Tibetan Mastiff and the Shar Pei

MOSCOW, March 7. /TASS/. The Russian Interior Ministry has prepared a list of dog breeds that could potentially present a danger to humans, the ministry’s draft order published on the federal portal of regulatory legal acts informs.

The list includes such breeds as the Caucasian Shepherd, the German Shepherd, the Tibetan Mastiff and the Shar Pei.

"Potentially dangerous dogs are dogs of certain breeds, their hybrids and other dogs that present a potential danger to human life and health and are included on the list of potentially dangerous dogs, approved by the Russian government. It is prohibited to walk potentially dangerous dogs without a muzzle and a leash, regardless of the place, with the exception of cases when the potentially dangerous dog is in the fenced area legally owned by the animal’s owner. A warning sign about the dog’s presence must be made at the entrance to said area," the document states.

The press center of the Russian Interior Ministry informed TASS that the list would include 69 dog breeds.
