IRKUTSK, July 4 (Itar-Tass) - A man was attacked by a brown bear in Russia’s Siberian Irkutsk region. The man was hospitalized with lacerated wound in his head and arm, a spokesman for the regional police department told Itar-Tass on Thursday.
According to the spokesman, the incident took place in the town of Ust-Ilimsk. The man was attacked by a young bear while walking along a tram line in the town’s woody suburb.
According to specialists, bears are driven to populated localities by hunger because of scarcity of food in forests caused by late summer.
The police are cooperating with local hunting specialists. Local residents are recommended to observe personal safety measures and to report bear appearances in populated localities to the police.
