Putin attends flag-raising ceremony onboard naval ship in St. Petersburg

After an opening speech at the beginning of the event the President gave permission to hoist the flags

ST. PETERSBURG, December 25. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken part in a naval flag-raising ceremony on The Admiral Golovko frigate at the Severnaya Verf shipyard in St. Petersburg.

Also, he watched by video link similar procedures on the small missile ship Naro-Fominsk and the sea-going minesweeper Lev Chernavin.

The naval flag raising ceremony heralds their incorporation into the Russian Navy. After an opening speech at the beginning of the event Putin gave permission to hoist the flags.

Ships’ profiles

The Admiral Golovko frigate, a multi-purpose surface ship of Project 22350, was built for the Russian Navy at the Severnaya Verf shipyard. It is equipped with modern Kalibr and Oniks strike missile weapon systems, anti-aircraft missile, anti-aircraft artillery and artillery systems, as well as the latest anti-submarine weapon systems, and electronic warfare and jamming systems. The frigate boasts high maneuverability and excellent controllability and is equipped with a modern navigation system.
