Japan’s new sanctions against Russia to do no harm, says Kremlin

Russia is adapting more and more to life under sanctions, "as compensatory measures are implemented for the economy and for social aspects," Dmitry Peskov stressed

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Japan’s new sanctions against Russia will do no harm, though they will worsen the already sad state of relations between the two countries, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.

"Such decisions (sanctions - TASS) will do no harm, of course," he said, adding that "the consequences [of the sanctions imposed] for bilateral relations, which are already in a sad state, unfortunately, are inevitable." The spokesman clarified that these are both diplomatic and economic consequences.

Moreover, Tokyo took its place among the countries unfriendly to Russia "in fact, from the very beginning of this situation (the special military operation held - TASS)," Peskov added.

Russia is adapting more and more to life under sanctions, "as compensatory measures are implemented for the economy and for social aspects," he said.

"Of course, we will first of all rely on our own interests in choosing retaliatory steps," the official concluded.

On January 27, the Japanese government banned exports of radioactive materials, vaccines and medical products, as well as robots, as part of the new package of sanctions against Moscow over the situation around Ukraine.
