Comfortable living environment will ensure sustainable development in the world - Putin

Russian President named four main policy priorities that would ensure sustainable and harmonious development in the world: comfortable housing, decent salaries and pensions, high-quality medicine and education

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin named four main policy priorities that would ensure sustainable and harmonious development in the world: comfortable housing, decent salaries and pensions, high-quality medicine and education.

"Firstly, people should have a comfortable living environment. These are housing and accessible infrastructure: transport, energy, utilities, and, environmental well-being of course. One should never forget about it," Putin said during the online speech at the Davos Week on Wednesday.

Secondly, people should be confident that their work will give them a steady and growing income and ensure a decent standard of living, Putin stressed. Every person should have access to effective learning mechanisms throughout their life in order to develop and build a career, and after its completion, receive a decent pension and a social package.

"Thirdly, people must be sure that they will receive high-quality, effective medical care when they need it. That the healthcare system in any case guarantees them access to a modern level of services," the Russian President said.

The fourth priority is education, Putin said.

"Regardless of their families' income, children should have the opportunity to receive a decent education and to fulfill their potential. Every child has such a potential," the President stressed.

"This is the only way to guarantee the most effective development of the modern economy. These are economies where people are not the vehicle but the goal [of development]. Only those countries that can make progress in the four above mentioned areas, and they <...> probably are not exhaustive (I mentioned only the main ones), will ensure sustainable and inclusive development for themselves, "Putin said.

He noted that it is these approaches lie at the core of the strategy Russia is implementing.

"In achieving our national development goals, we are open to the broadest international cooperation and confident that cooperation on the global socio-economic agenda would have a positive impact on the general atmosphere in world affairs. Interdependence in solving acute current problems would add more mutual trust, which is especially important and relevant now, "Putin said.
