Russian rescuers help pull two girls from rubble in Turkey’s Kahramanmaras

Russian rescuers consulted their foreign colleagues, including those from Belarus, during the effort

KAHRAMANMARAS (Turkey), February 9. /TASS/. Rescuers from Russia and other countries pulled two girls out from under the rubble of a residential building in Turkey’s Kahramanmaras on Thursday, a TASS correspondent reported.

The girls were rescued one after the other within a short period of time. They were rescued using equipment belonging to the Russian rescuers. In addition, Russian rescuers consulted their foreign colleagues, including those from Belarus, during the effort.

A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake rocked Turkey’s Kahramanmaras province, located in the country’s southeast, on February 6. The tremors, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were felt in ten provinces as well as in neighboring countries, including Syria. The latest reports say that over 17,000 people have lost their lives in Turkey and about 72,000 have been injured.
