Russia reduces oil refining by 7%, expects to maintain 2023 level in 2024

According to the presentation of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, primary oil refining in Russia in 2023 increased by 1.1% to 275 mln tons

MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. Russia reduced the volume of oil refining by 7% since the beginning of the year and focuses on maintaining the figure at the 2023 level of 275 mln tons by the end of 2024, Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov told reporters.

"Russia’s oil refining decreased by around 7% since the beginning of the year. At the end of the year, we focus on the figure included in the socio-economic development forecast at 275 mln tons," he said.

According to the presentation of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, primary oil refining in Russia in 2023 increased by 1.1% to 275 mln tons.

Speaking about oil export indicators, the minister said that this will depend on the country’s obligations within OPEC+. "We must take into account, among other things, the OPEC+ recommendation on production. Based on our obligations, we will determine the volume of exports," Shulginov noted.
