Latvia to allocate at least two mln euros for US weapons purchases for Ukraine — PM

VILNIUS, August 13. /TASS/. Latvia’s government will allocate at least two million euros to purchase US weapons for Ukraine, the Baltic nation’s Prime Minister Evika Silina said.

"The funds that Latvia will allocate for the initiative will be specified but it will be at least two million euros," the Delfi media outlet quoted her as saying. The prime minister noted that Riga would purchase "both air defense systems and other necessary weapons" for Kiev.

On July 14, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington would continue transferring weapons and military equipment to Ukraine if Europe paid for the supplies. Coordination will be carried out by NATO. According to the US president, the deliveries will include 17 Patriot systems. Trump added that billions of dollars worth of military aid would be provided to Ukraine via NATO.
