WASHINGTON, May 20. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said that he believes in Russia's aspiration to achieve the end to the Ukrainian conflict.

"It's time, you got to stop this thing. I believe he [Russian President Vladimir Putin] wants to stop. Look, I would be, I think, very able to tell whether or not he wanted to. I thought there was a very good chance, like a 50/50 chance, that he would say ‘I want to take the whole thing.’ I didn't know what he was going to say, and then they have a different kind of a problem. But I believe he wants to stop," Trump said, answering questions from reporters.

On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump spoke over the phone. Putin described the more than two-hour conversation as informative and frank. It marked their third call since the beginning of the year.
