WASHINGTON, April 1. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has asserted that the US Air Force will continue to carry out strikes on Houthi rebels from Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement until they are no longer a threat to maritime navigation.
"We hit them every day and night — Harder and harder. Their capabilities that threaten Shipping and the Region are rapidly being destroyed. Our attacks will continue until they are no longer a threat to Freedom of Navigation," Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.
"The choice for the Houthis is clear: Stop shooting at U.S. ships, and we will stop shooting at you," the US president noted.
He also cautioned Iran which, according to the US leader, sponsors Ansar Allah, that "the real pain is yet to come."
On March 15, the US began to launch massive strikes on Houthi facilities in Yemen based on an order from Trump. The US Central Command said that the goal was to defend American interests and restore freedom of navigation. In response, the Ansar Allah movement carried out a series of attacks on the US aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the northern part of the Red Sea, using missiles and drones. There were no reports of damage to the vessel.
