US offers Ukraine new minerals deal — Zelensky

MOSCOW, March 25. /TASS/. The United States has offered Ukraine a major new deal on the development of mineral resources, Vladimir Zelensky told reporters.

"Regarding the new deal. This is a big deal, this is the vision of the US side, which is different from before. This will be a framework agreement, and as you remember, after the framework agreement a full agreement will be developed. Now the US side has offered our side a big deal all at once: that is their vision. I do not have the details yet. I have asked to study it and we will see it before sending it to the parliament for ratification," he said.

Earlier, the administration of US President Donald Trump proposed a deal under which Kiev will have to compensate Washington for military aid at the expense of Ukraine's minerals. The framework agreement on the so-called joint extraction of mineral resources was supposed to be signed on February 28 during Zelensky's visit to the United States, but due to his behavior at a meeting with US President Donald Trump, the procedure was postponed.
