Negotiations between Russia, US reduce Ukrainian conflict escalation risk — top diplomat

Peter Szijjarto believes that "the OSCE remains the last European platform for East-West relations"

BUDAPEST, March 25. /TASS/. Negotiations between Moscow and Washington have bolstered international security and reduced the risk of a deeper Ukrainian crisis, said Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto.

"The ongoing negotiations between the United States and Russia have made the world a safer place, since at least the risk of an escalation of war has somewhat decreased," he wrote on his page at Facebook (prohibited in Russia, belongs to Meta corporation, which Russia considers extremist).

"We know from our historical experience that normal cooperation between East and West is good for us, while hostility between East and West is bad, so we support the US-Russian negotiations. The success of these negotiations is in the interests of our national security," Szijjarto said after a meeting with Feridun Sinirlioglu, a new General Secretary of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

The minister believes that "the OSCE remains the last European platform for East-West relations." "This is why it is in our interests to protect it and support its activities," Szijjarto added.
