Transnistria extends heightened terror alert until May 25

The authorities of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic declared heightened terror alert on April 26 after a series of attacks committed on Transnistrian territory

CHISINAU, May 10. /TASS/. Leader of the unrecognized Transnistrian republic Vadim Krasnoselsky has extended special security measures in connection with the threat of terror attacks until May 25, his press service said on its Telegram channel on Tuesday.

"The threat of a terror act remains and there is the need to continue implementing measures on countering its implementation. The red level has been extended for another 15 days until May 25, 2022," the statement said.

On April 25, the building of the Ministry of State Security in Tiraspol came under an attack involving hand-held grenade launchers, a military base near the Parkany settlement also was attacked. Two radio antennas were blown up in the Mayak settlement in Transnistria on April 26. The next day, a shooting incident was reported near an ammunition depot in Kolbasna, which stores over 20,000 tonnes of ordnance, relocated there after Soviet forces’ withdrawal from European states. Drones launched, according to the Transnistrian authorities, from Ukraine were spotted near Kolbasna. Krasnoselsky said that the trail of the terrorist attacks led to Ukraine.
