CIS Interparliamentary Assembly to facilitate peace, security in Eurasia, Lukashenko says

The assembly’s meeting in Almaty marked the 30th anniversary of the organization

ALMATY, March 29. /TASS/. The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly that has acquired wide recognition as a respected international parliamentary organization will continue to facilitate the bolstering of peace and security on the Eurasian continent, according to Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko’s address to the participants of the assembly’s meeting in Almaty marking the 30th anniversary of the organization. The statement was read out by Speaker of the Belarusian parliament’s upper house Natalya Kochanova.

"Over the past years, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly has acquired wide recognition as a respected international parliamentary organization playing an important part in developed dialogue in the post-Soviet space," the Belarusian president said. According to him, the fraternal relations between the peoples of the Commonwealth are being boosted, their historical unity is being preserved thanks to humanitarian projects implemented under the auspices of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. "I am confident that in the future, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly will continue to facilitate the development of the comprehensive interaction of our countries and peoples, the support to peace and security on the Eurasian continent," he stressed.

The Belarusian leader noted that the lawmaking by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly serves as a steady guide in preparing normative legal acts, the harmonization of national standards, and the shaping of the common legal space.
