Russia’s top-tier football league RPL chalks up over $1.07 billion revenue in 2024 — UEFA

UEFA allocated each club of the Russian Premier League club with 0.1 million euros ($108,593) on behalf of the European football organization

MOSCOW, March 7. /TASS/. The total earnings of the clubs from Russia’s top-tier football league, the Russian Premier League (RPL), at the end of 2024 amounted to 981 million euros (some $1,066 billion), the press service of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) announced on Friday.

According to UEFA’s statement, the RPL’s commercial revenue stood at 540 million euros (over $586,178 million), broadcasting rights’ earnings at 121 million euros (about $131,327 million), ticket sales volumes at 52 million euros ($56,418 million) and additional profits of 260 million euros ($282,135 million).

UEFA also allocated each club of the Russian Premier League club with 0.1 million euros ($108,593) on behalf of the European football organization.

If compared to the previous year, the total year-on-year earnings decreased by 6.6% as in 2023 it amounted to 1,050 billion euros (over $1,140 billion).

Russia has also dropped two positions ranking now sixth in terms of the construction of large stadiums over the past 10 years. During this period, Russia invested in 14 large stadium projects.

The world’s governing football body, FIFA, announced on February 28, 2022, that the Russian national team and all professional clubs representing the country were barred from participating in FIFA tournaments.

In turn, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) made a similar decision regarding the Russian national football team’s participation in UEFA tournaments.

Both FIFA and UEFA cited Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine as grounds for their respective bans on Russian teams’ participation in competitions.
