HAIKOU /China/, January 17. /TASS/. The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) will be held from March 26 to 29, 2024 in China's southern province of Hainan, the forum's Secretary-General Li Baodong announced.
"The Boao Forum for Asia in 2024 is scheduled to take place from March 26 to 29 in Boao in southern China's Hainan Province. At present, preparations for organizing the forum are carried out in a stable and orderly manner," the Hainan Daily newspaper quoted him as saying.
The main theme of this year's forum is named to be "Asia and the World: Shared Challenges, Shared Responsibilities." The conference will focus on four key areas: "World Economy," "Scientific and Technological Innovation," "Social Development" and "International Cooperation."
The Boao Forum for Asia will also host a series of special events, including a healthcare forum, a conference on science, technology and innovation, a forum on green urban development and other discussions.
The BFA has been regularly held since 2001 and has about 30 participating countries (Asia-Pacific states). It is called the Eastern Davos; it is a major platform for the signing of major agreements, coordination of positions between representatives of business and government circles of Asian countries and all other regions of the world. Chinese authorities pay great attention to its development and view this mechanism as an effective instrument of soft diplomacy, which promotes and strengthens Beijing's international contacts.
